Kia India has officially unveiled the Syros EV and opened pre-bookings for the electric SUV at a token amount of Rs 25,000. The Syros EV is Kia's most affordable electric vehicle in India and comes with two battery options, a claimed ARAI-certified range of up to 526 km, and a host of premium features including Level 2 ADAS and a 30-inch panoramic display.

The Syros EV is based on the K1 platform and shares its overall design with the ICE version of the Syros, which launched earlier this year. It features Kia's signature Digital Tiger Face, Ice Cube LED headlamps with Star Map LED DRLs and taillights, flush-fitting door handles, and 17-inch dual-tone aero alloy wheels.

Battery and Range

The Syros EV is available with two battery options. The 42 kWh pack delivers an ARAI-certified range of 443 km, while the larger 51.4 kWh pack extends that to 526 km. Both variants are powered by a single electric motor producing 169 BHP, with a claimed 0-100 km/h time of 8.1 seconds.

Charging is handled by a 10.8 kW onboard AC charger. DC fast charging support goes up to 100 kW, which takes the battery from 10 percent to 80 percent in 39 minutes.

Features and Interior

The cabin is dominated by a 30-inch wide panoramic display that integrates a 12.3-inch touchscreen, a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster, and a 5-inch climate control interface. Other features include a dual-pane panoramic sunroof, ambient lighting, a 4-way power driver seat, sliding and reclining rear seats, a built-in dashcam, and a 360-degree camera.

On the safety front, the Syros EV comes with Level 2 ADAS and six airbags as standard. Kia has confirmed that the EV version retains the 5-star Bharat NCAP safety rating earned by the ICE Syros.

Practicality

The Syros EV offers a 16-litre frunk in addition to the regular boot space. The rear seats slide and recline, adding flexibility for passengers or luggage. Kia has also retained the flush-fitting door handles and aero wheels from the concept, giving the EV a distinct look compared to the ICE version.

Pricing and Availability

Kia has not yet announced the final price, but industry estimates place the Syros EV between Rs 14 lakh and Rs 20 lakh ex-showroom. At that price point, it will compete directly with the Tata Nexon EV, Mahindra XUV 3XO EV, and the MG Windsor EV.

Deliveries are expected to begin in August 2026. Kia is also offering a lifetime battery warranty and an Assured Buyback programme to reduce ownership concerns. A Battery as a Service option is available, allowing buyers to reduce the upfront cost by paying separately for battery usage.

Bottom Line

The Kia Syros EV brings a compelling package to the Indian EV market: strong range, fast charging, a premium interior, and safety credentials that few competitors match. If Kia prices it aggressively at launch, it could become one of the strongest contenders in the segment.
